Hreflang & International Sitemaps

Instead of adding complex code to the page headers, we implemented Hreflang via XML Sitemaps.
We created a single, global sitemap index that listed every URL and its alternate language/country versions.

Robots.txt Optimization

We updated the robots.txt to point to this new, master global sitemap index.

Canonical Tag Management

We ensured each country page self-canonicalized (e.g., the UK page pointed to itself as canonical) to reinforce the hreflang signals.

Crawl Budget Analysis

We monitored server logs to ensure Googlebot started crawling the new international URLs.
